IT and Telecommunications Policy Reports
On behalf of the government, every year the Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation submits an IT and Telecommunications Policy Report to the Danish Parliament. The report describes the government's initiatives within the IT and telecom area during the preceding year and relates them to the political goals.
Background
According to the political agreement on telecommunications policies from 1999, every year, the Minister for Science Technology and Innovation is obliged to submit an IT and Telecommunications Policy Report to the Danish Parliament.
The report gives retrospective description of the government’s initiatives within the IT and telecommunications area (also now as the ICT-area) since the previous report and relates them to the government’s own political goals.
The first IT and Telecommunications Policy Report was published in 2000 ant title “A Net of Opportunities – The Network Report 2000”. Since then, the report has been published under different titles – however the last five years simply as “The IT and Telecommunications Policy Report”.
The IT and Telecommunications Policy Report 2009
"The IT and Telecommunications Policy Report 2009" was published in March 2009. The starting point for the years report is the government’s five strategic objectives for the ICT-area. The five strategic objective are:
- Denmark should have an electronic communication infrastructure ranking among the best in the world.
- The Danes should obtain the necessary competencies to utilise this infrastructure optimally.
- The Danes should feel secure and confident when using the infrastructure.
- The Danes will use the infrastructure in practice because it offers valuable and useful content.
- Green IT: The National IT and Telecom Agency should contribute actively to a reduction of energy consumption and environmental strain in Denmark.
Besides a preface by Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation, Helge Sander, and an introduction, the report consists of five chapters each describing developments within one of the strategic objectives.
