International Workshop on ICTs and the Environment
In cooperation with the OECD, The Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation and the National IT and Telecom Agency organised an international Workshop on ICTs and the Environment, 22-23 May 2008, Eigtveds Pakhus, Copenhagen.
In cooperation with the OECD (the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation and the National IT and Telecom Agency organised an international Workshop on the potential of information and communication technologies in relation to CO2 reduction and other environmental targets.
The Workshop took place at "Eigtveds Pakhus", Copenhagen on 22-23 May 2008.
This was the first time the OECD countries met for specific
discussions on ICTs and the environment. The intention was that
the Organisation should focus on this subject in the next few years –
thus contributing to solving the global environmental problems.
Around 100 experts and representatives from the OECD
countries focused on how ICTs can be used for energy management
and other intelligent solutions within the environmental area. In
addition, the Meeting discussed what could be done to promote more
environment-friendly ICT products.
The Workshop was divided in four thematic sessions:
- The environmental impacts of ICTs in the knowledge economy
- ICTs in pollution management, cleaner technologies and better resource management
- The ICT producing sector
- Implications and areas for future work
More information on the Workshop can be found on the OECD website.
