Initiative 8: Green IT in the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation

The public sector must contribute to setting an environmental agenda by serving as an inspiration for both private companies and citizens. The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation will therefore take the lead in the pursuit of greener it-solutions

One of the objectives is to reduce electricity consumption. The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation will launch a number of initiatives in order to save ten per cent of its annual electricity consumption. Obvious initiatives would be setting up AutoPowerOff plug banks and prioritising laptops and other energy-saving types of computers at the expense of desktop computers in future procurements.

In order to increase focus on Green IT, the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation will have an internal competition about ways to reduce CO2 emissions by using less electricity.
