The IT Security Panel was established on 1 January 2006 by the Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation, Helge Sander. The IT Security Panel aims to strengthen the overall ICT security in Denmark via sparring with the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.
 
The Panel has 18 members and is composed broadly across society. The members of the Panel have been appointed by a number of organisations representing the public sector, the private sector, employees, and the research and education sector. In addition, the Minister has appointed three members.
 
The members of the IT Security Panel have extensive specialist knowledge in the IT security area and insight into IT security issues. The Panel is chaired by Hanne Bender, Ph.D., Attorney-at-law.
