Reusing public data
Reusing public data
The Act on Reusing Public Sector Information is usually referred to as the PSI Act.
The purpose of the PSI Act is to have uniform rules for reusing the documents and data collections held by the public sector.
The public sector collects, produces, reproduces and disseminates a wide range of information for the purpose of handling its public activities, for example economic, geographical, weather, tourist, business, patent and educational information.
When data has already been compiled in connection with public sector bodies solving their own tasks, it is an advantage, in socioeconomic terms, to make use of this information as much as possible.
The difference between the PSI Act and the rules of the Open Administration Act on access to documents is that the Open Administration Act only allows access to cases and documents that are identified, whereas the PSI Act authorises "bulk delivery" of information.
Did you know that...
... you are basically entitled to reuse documents and data collections held by public sector bodies?
