Tasks assigned to the Government IT Council

The Government IT Forum is a subcommittee under the Government IT Council.

The Government IT Forum is to discuss and deal with cross-sectoral issues bearing on IT use in the government sector, focusing on technical, organisational and administrative matters associated with the procurement and use of IT.

Activities in the Government IT Forum are carried out partly on the basis of general discussions and decisions by the Government IT Council and partly on the basis of proposals from the members of the Government IT Forum.

The Government IT Forum carries out its activities in association with the common meetings, via the appointment of working groups, and in cooperation with consultants.

The results of these activities are implemented partly via the exchange of experience and partly via guidelines and notes, and also via proposals for projects or similar activities.

All ministries are represented at IT manager level on the Government IT Council. The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation appoints the chairman of the Government IT Forum and provides secretarial assistance to the Forum.

The Government IT Forum reports to the Government IT Council, informing the Council on a current basis about activities and results.
